Praktiker's DIY stores increased their sales by 2.1 per cent to € 722.5 mio (1.1 per cent like-for-like) in the first quarter of 2005. Sales in Germany were up by 1.3 per cent to € 583.4 mio (2.0 per cent like-for-like) and in eastern Europe by 6.1 per cent to € 126.5 mio (-2.6 per cent like-for-like). The foreign share of sales rose from 18.7 per cent to 19.3 per cent. EBITDA in the first quarter came to € 6.8 mio, compared to € 4.6 mio in the same quarter last year. The distribution network comprised 339 DIY stores at the end of the quarter, 278 in Germany, 7 in western and 54 in eastern Europe.
