Aggressive growth plans

The American retailer 84 Lumber is planning its greatest growth in years. The company intends to open 52 new stores this year, including its 500th location, and 10 component plants. The aim is to break the US $ 4 bn (€ 3.11 bn) sales barrier by concentrating growth on the booming housing markets such as Arizona, California, the Carolinas and Florida. Sales last year were US $ 3.46 bn (€ 2.69 bn). In more rural locations the company serves DIYers as well as professional customers. In metro areas, where customers can find broader selections at Home Base, Lowe's or Menards, the company concentrates on serving professionals.
