Austrian consumers are happy to take advantage of the customer loyalty programmes offered by retailers and service providers. According to management consultancy Markant, 72 per cent of Austrians are members of at least one customer loyalty programme. Favourite is the classic customer card in the cheque card format, which 65 per cent of Austrians can call their own. The customer cards issued by Obi and Baumax are two of the most popular ones. Whereas the Obi card is spontaneously named by eight per cent of the owners of customer cards, the figure is five per cent for Baumax.
