Obi's board becoming more international

Reorganisation at the top for the biggest German DIY retailer

Germany is the most important country for the Obi franchise organisation. There will in future be a special management department for everything concerning Obi Germany. This task has been entrusted to Wolfram Stroese, who has been a member of the board since 2001. The board position with responsibility for sales/marketing in Germany is being done away with and Ingo Schalk, who headed this organisational unit, will be leaving the company.
As a means of accelerating the internationalisation of Obi in terms of organisation, Paolo Alemagna has been nominated as a new member of the board. Alemagna will in future be responsible for category management, planning, facilities and merchandising. Alemagna has worked for the group since 1994, most recently as the national ceo for Italy and international buying director. All other positions on the board remain unaffected by these changes.
