The international building trade fair in Munich attracted 10 000 more visitors than in 2003

Over 190 000 visitors, around 10 000 more than two years ago, came to Munich for the recent Bau event. 23 000 of these visitors came from abroad (134 countries). The strong increase in numbers from the Middle and Far East is a striking feature here. Appreciably more visitors came from such countries as Iran (877), China (719) and Japan (602). The mood on the exhibiting companies’ stands was good, according to the concluding report from the fair organisers. It also says that 38 per cent of the exhibitors, or 16 per cent more than two years ago, assessed the present situation in the industry as excellent to good, and 44 per cent (+6 per cent) described it as reasonable. Their view of the future is also more optimistic once again: 36 per cent of the exhibitors expect that the situation in the building and construction industry will improve. Two years ago only 24 per cent of the exhibitors shared their confidence.
