Homebase, the UK DIY retail multiple, can point to sales growth of 8 per cent in the third quarter over the same period the year before. The increase, which comes to 4 per cent in like-for-like terms, stems from a price-cutting campaign offering a 10 per cent discount that was run at the end of the period under consideration, rather than in the fourth quarter as was the case in the previous year. The total number of outlets went up to 287 in the third quarter, when there were four new openings.
