Eighteen months after the introduction of its Wincard, Zeus takes positive interim stock of the effect it has had. By now 140 000 consumers are carrying this customer card, which is issued by a number of medium-sized specialist retail cooperatives. It entitles them to a discount of one per cent on their purchases. In the case of Zeus traders, the spend of Wincard users is on average about twice as high as that of non-users. And the Zeus traders who make use of Wincard are recording an increase of around 20 per cent in cash transactions when all their customers are taken into account. Two-thirds of the Zeus members offering Wincard belong to the Werkmarkt retail channel.
