The building industry in the new EU member states is experiencing “explosive” growth rates, according to information from Inter-Connection, a Vienna-based management consultancy. Last year saw the building of 69 per cent more new detached and semi-detached homes in Hungary, Poland, Czechia, Slovakia and Slovenia than in 2002. The proportion of prefabricated houses still amounted to less than ten per cent. The manufacturers in this sector recorded growth of almost 20 per cent. The management consultants expect that growth will continue at a similar rate over the next few years.
