The market share of private labels in Europe is growing. It is particularly in countries such as Spain and Italy, where own-label products had a traditionally low share, that they are showing strong growth. This emerges from a study by AC Nielsen, which will be presented on 26 May 2003 as part of the programme of seminars at the World of Private Labels in Amsterdam. Another trend that can be deduced from the survey is that customers are increasingly reaching for dealers’ brands. That is the case where one out of four products sold in Belgium, France, Germany, Spain and Britain is concerned. And customers are also increasingly prepared to spend more on these products.
