New chief executive for Castorama

The new chief executive of Castorama France is to be Philippe Tible, 52. He will take up his new postion on Monday, 17 February 2003. Tible’s career spans many years in the French retail industry. From 1983 to 1997 he held a number of different positions with Leroy Merlin, finally working as managing director Asia. Following that he spent two further years in Asia for Conforama (PPR Group). In 1999 he became a private investor in and chief executive of Mille Amis, which was sold in November 2001.
Didier Hernoux, who has been acting chief executive of Castorama since August 2002 and was director of human resources prior to that, will move to another senior role within the Kingfisher group.
