Patchy development of tool market

10.02.2003

More tools were sold across the world in 2002, but their volume shrank in value terms

The volume of sales achieved by the power tool market shrank by two per cent last year to a value of € 2.9 bn. At the same time the quantity sold rose by three per cent, amounting to 42 mio portable power tools. Garden tools and attachments are not included. These are figures supplied by Bosch and based on commercial procurement. The world market showed regionally varying developments. Whereas sales increased slightly in North America and Asia, the markets of Africa, the Mediterranean, the Middle East, Australia and Oceania were at a standstill. Latin America experienced a regular slump.
