A full fifteen hundred

Today, 19 December, sees the opening of Home Depot’s 1 500th store in Abilene, Texas. It is the company’s first store in this west Texas town of 116 000. It will be competing with a Lowe’s store and a McCoy Lumber Co. unit. McCoy is a privately owned, Texas-based chain of timber merchants. The Home Depot store is the current Southwest division prototype with 9 000 m² of inside sales area, supplemented by a 3 000 m² garden centre.
