Kingfisher’s DIY business achieves like-for-like sales growth of five per cent

“Following a slow second quarter”, in the words of the company, Kingfisher’s home improvement business grew sales by 16.1 per cent in the third quarter (to 2 November 2002) for a total of £ 1.731 bn (€ 2.698 bn).  Growth was up 5.2 per cent on a like-for-like basis over the same period last year. Profit grew by 28.7 per cent to £ 151 mio (€ 235 mio). A sales volume of £ 5.153 bn (€ 8.030 bn) for the first three quarters resulted in growth of 15.1 per cent and 3.6 per cent like-for-like. The group’s stores outside the United Kingdom and France, in particular the outlets in Poland, Canada and Italy, achieved good results. The company reports double-digit sales growth for Castorama Poland on a like-for-like basis.
