It was 1903 when seedsman William Unwin founded his business near Cambridge

Next year the British seed merchant Unwins will be celebrating its 100th birthday. The company was founded by William Unwin in 1903 and still has its headquarters in the village of Histon near Cambridge. In addition to selling seeds by mail order, in the late fifties Unwins also branched out into marketing through the garden centres that were just then making an appearance.
