Higher earners seem to buy more

In the first eight months of the current financial year (return date: 5 October), Sears saw a decline in sales of 2.5 per cent and of 5.1 per cent over a comparable area. By contrast, the company reported a single-figure percentage gain for its upmarket line The Great Indoors in September. Sales across the company for this month were 3.1 per cent below the 2001 figure.
