Students are being prepared for jobs in DIY stores at a model project in northern France

Young people in France can now learn the job of sales assistant in a DIY store at school. This week saw the inauguration of a model project at the lycée in Lomme, not far from Lille. The prerequisite for the course is that students have obtained their university entrance qualification, according to a statement from the FMB (Fédération des Magasins de Bricolage). The training lasts just under eight months altogether, 16 weeks of classes and 17 weeks with a retailer. Companies participating in the scheme are Castorama, Brico Dépot and Leroy Merlin.
