The next store in Bucharest

Following last weekend’s entry on the Romanian market, for the moment Praktiker intends to open one more DIY store in Bucharest next year. Parent company Metro comments very positively on developments in eastern Europe. In the first six months of 2002, the more than 40 branches in this region have increased their sales by 30.4 per cent to € 230 mio, growing by 13 per cent in like-for-like terms. They are currently making a positive contribution to the group’s results. In the medium term the number of Praktiker stores outside Germany is to increase to around 70.
