Headlong expansion in Romania

At the opening of its first store in Bucharest, Praktiker announces further plans and mentions the possibility of 15 new stores

Praktiker is evidently on the threshold of a period of headlong expansion in Romania. On 28 September 2002 this group, number two in its home market, became the first German company to open a DIY superstore in this country, the most populous of the Balkan states with a population of 23 mio. There are plans for opening 15 new branches over the next few years. The outlet in the capital city, Bucharest, has a retail area of approx. 6 000 m². As a result of the demand in the renovating sector, the key categories covered by the product assortment are building materials, structural elements and installation materials.
