According to Tesa’s assessment, sustainability is becoming increasingly important for both companies and customers alike. Today, consumers are paying more attention than ever to responsible behaviour, transparent processes and sustainable products or services. "Companies that actively integrate sustainability into their strategy not only strengthen their social responsibility, but also build trust, competitiveness and future-proofing," says the manufacturer of innovative adhesive solutions.
Sustainability is therefore also a central component of Tesa’s corporate strategy and shapes decisions throughout the entire value chain – from material selection and product development through to packaging and production. The aim is to combine performance and quality with measurable contributions to sustainability.
Tesa is focusing its strategy on material transformation, strengthening the circular economy and reducing resource consumption and emissions: the company offers more recycled and bio-based materials whilst maintaining the same level of performance, prioritises recyclable solutions and supports closed-loop systems, uses fewer virgin raw materials and non-recycled plastics, and is working to optimise processes.
By 2025, Tesa had halved its emissions (Scope 1 and 2) compared with the base year of 2018. At the same time, the proportion of virgin fossil-based plastic in packaging was reduced by 63 per cent, exceeding the target of 50 per cent. The proportion of recycled and bio-based materials in products stood at 32 per cent at the end of 2025 and is expected to approach the target of 70 per cent by 2030. More than 100 products and adhesive technologies with improved sustainability credentials have been added to the portfolio.
In the packaging adhesive tape segment, following the launch of Tesapack Ultra Strong Recycled in 2023, Tesapack Strong Recycled has now also been further developed: the backing material is being switched from PIR-PP (post-industrial recycled PP) to PCR-PET film (post-consumer recycled PET). The products can be recycled along with the cardboard packaging.

Another example is Tesa’s Perfect+ painter’s tape, produced in Germany. This masking tape is available with an FSC-certified paper backing. Tesa is convinced that this not only emphasises the highest quality and functionality, but also the conservation of resources and the promotion of sustainable forestry. The masking tape can be removed without leaving any residue after use – “a more sustainable solution for professional painting work”, the company promises.
