The activities of DIY retailers in Hungary are partly strongly concentrated in central Hungary with the capital Budapest. The German chain Bauhaus, for example, has its locations exclusively in this region. Market leader Obi operates nine of its 31 Hungarian stores here, i.e. almost 30 per cent. At Praktiker, the ratio is just as high.

The case is somewhat different for the Austrian 3e AG, and that is not surprising: members of this cooperative are small and medium-sized traders who (for example, also in Austria) tend not to have their traditional headquarters in the big cities. This is why there is not a single location of the Let's do it sales line in central Hungary, and even the affiliated dealers who do not implement this sales system are somewhat more evenly distributed across the country with their 46 locations than the large chains.
