The China International Hardware Show (CIHS) has been brought forward at short notice by almost two weeks and has also been given a different sequence of days. The trade fair will take place from 10 to 12 October 2018 - i.e. Thursday to Friday - in the National Exhibition and Convention Center Shanghai and not as planned from 22 to 24 October (Monday to Wednesday).
The reason is that the first China International Import Expo (CIIE) is being held in Shanghai at the start of November. The press report from the organisers of the CIHS, Koelnmesse and the China International Hardware Association (CNHA), specifically refers to the strategy of the Central Committee and the State Council into which this event is evidently incorporated. CNHA President Shi Senglan, is quoted as commenting that the CIIE is "unconditionally" supported. She states that the new CIHS date still falls within the industry's best purchasing cycle: "CIHS 2018 keeps its original intention of technique-orientated and market-driven concept."

The organisers are expecting more than 3 000 exhibitors, who will occupy more than 150 000 m², and more than 50 000 visitors. According to this information, Germany, Taiwan and India will be the countries who, other than China, will be most strongly represented, whereby Indian companies have booked in total more than double the space than in the previous year. Great Britain and Switzerland will be represented for the first time.
According to the organisers, key buyers from the industry world who visited the last edition have given positive credit and shown great interest in this year's visit. Among them are Lowe's, The Home Depot, Do it Best from the U. S., Obi, Hahn+Kolb Group from Germany, and Alibaba's e-commerce platforms from China.
The new feature of CIHS 2018 will be the Classic vs. Innovation Gallery, in which a special showcasing area will be set up to present exhibitors' products and technologies featuring "The Collision of Classic & Innovation".
CIHS 2018 has received strong support from the Global Home Improvement Network (Ghin). However, the fair has been introduced to their members as one of the…
