Spanish manufacturers in the DIY and hardware sector have seen a significant increase in sales to the retail trade in the first half of 2026. According to their trade association, AFEB, the total turnover of its 63 members rose by 5.6 per cent compared with the same period last year. Excluding exports (up 8.76 per cent), there was an increase of 5.1 per cent.
Sales to DIY store operators also saw positive growth, albeit at a below-average rate. Turnover was 4.4 per cent higher than in the corresponding period last year. In the specialist retail channel, the increase was 2.7 per cent. Manufacturers achieved the highest growth (10.3 per cent) with their commercial customers. Turnover with online retailers rose by 2.1 per cent, whilst turnover with generalist retailers fell by 0.1 per cent compared with the first half of 2025.
