Fischer opens logistics centre in Spain

Fischer has built a new logistics centre in Spain. The German fastening specialist emphasises that the logistics infrastructure increases storage capacity by 50 per cent. The logistics centre in Mont-roig del Camp (Tarragona region) forms a new strategic hub for distribution in Spain, Portugal and Andorra.

“This fully automated warehouse strengthens our logistics capacity on the Iberian Peninsula, our efficiency and our potential for further growth. The investment is the logical consequence of our company’s sustained growth in the region over the past decade,” explains owner Prof. Klaus Fischer.

Covering an area of over 5,000 m², Fischer has opted for an Autostore system: this comprises ten autonomous robots, more than 14,000 smart bins and AI-powered software to optimise order picking. Through digital process control, the company aims to reduce order processing times and be able to respond flexibly to rising demand. The provider emphasises that the robots consume only about as much energy in operation as a conventional domestic vacuum cleaner.

The facility was inaugurated in the presence of Salvador Illa, President of the Regional Government of Catalonia, and Alexander Bässler, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Fischer Group.
