German Hagebau and its Swiss shareholder, Jumbo, are further expanding their partnership. The joint venture has announced that, going forward, the leading Swiss DIY retailer will become even more closely involved in Hagebau’s purchasing structure. Both partners will deepen their collaboration, particularly with regard to product ranges, own-brand products and purchasing terms.
"Through this even closer collaboration with Jumbo, we are strengthening our position as a reliable partner to the industry across the entire DACH region," says Frank Staffeld, Managing Director of Retail at Hagebau. Stefano Alberucci, Head of Jumbo, explains: "Our customers expect an attractive product range at competitive prices. Closer cooperation with Hagebau opens up further opportunities for us to develop our offering in a targeted manner and to further strengthen our competitive position in the Swiss market."
The DIY chain Jumbo has been a shareholder in Hagebau since 2019. It was acquired in 2021 by the cooperative retail group Coop, which subsequently rebranded its own DIY retail line, Coop Bau + Hobby, under the Jumbo brand. The purchasing volume it contributed to Hagebau last year is estimated at EUR 300 mio.
