The Swedish DIY chain Byggmax increased its turnover by 2.9 per cent in the second quarter compared with the same period last year, generating SEK 2.263 bn (EUR 205.2 mio). On a like-for-like basis, turnover grew by 1.4 per cent. Currency effects had a positive impact of 1.2 per cent. The share of e-commerce rose by one percentage point to 21 per cent.
At the end of the quarter, the Byggmax Group had 211 outlets (one fewer than at the start of the year) and eight showrooms as part of the Skånska Byggvaror distribution network; one of these, the outlet in Gothenburg, Sweden, is a new addition.
As the company had started the year with significant declines in turnover, growth for the first half of the year as a whole amounted to just 0.5 per cent, with total turnover of SEK 3.143 bn (EUR 285.0 mio).
