At the Global DIY Summit, the “Make It Zero” initiative unveiled its strategy for low-carbon and circular plastics, setting the target of achieving a minimum of 35 per cent recycled plastic content in the plastics used in DIY, home improvement and gardening products by 2035.

The “Make It Zero” initiative, implemented by Edra/Ghin and supported by Ricardo, aims to reduce emissions from product manufacturing across the entire DIY sector by 15 per cent, equivalent to approximately 6.3 million tonnes of CO₂. By setting a target of 35 per cent recycled content, the industry aims not only to reduce emissions from product manufacturing but also to accelerate the growth of markets for recycled materials and demonstrate the DIY sector’s leadership in the decarbonisation of materials.
