DIY stores in France recorded a significant decline in sales in 2024. Their total sales fell by 4.3 per cent to 22.1 billion euros. The two industry associations, FMB (retail) and Inoha (manufacturers), presented the figures for the past year in Paris this week. They emphasise that the industry is still well above the pre-coronavirus level of around €20 billion in 2019. The online share of total sales increased slightly from 5.4 to 5.6 per cent.

All four dominant DIY store groups – which together account for 97.5 per cent of the market – lost sales, with the two leading groups, Adeo and Kingfisher, experiencing similar declines. Market leader Leroy Merlin (Adeo) ended the year with a decline of 5.0 per cent. Sales at the building materials distributor Bricoman slumped by 26.7 per cent.
