The 250 biggest retailers worldwide generated sales totalling USD 5.11 trillion in the last fiscal year (July 2020 to June 2021), achieving sales growth of 5.2 per cent. This was revealed by Deloitte’s latest report, “Global Powers of Retailing”, which identifies the biggest-selling global retailers annually and analyses their business trend.

The Rewe Group of Germany is also making substantial progress, moving up one place from the previous year to number 18. In the period under review, the group increased its sales by 8.9 per cent, although sales by its DIY subsidiary only account for a part of Rewe’s overall sales.

This is nearly two per cent more than in the previous year. Their sales growth has virtually tripled from 4.4 per cent to 12.4 per cent, whereas the growth of all companies analysed has risen from 4.4 per cent to just 5.2 per cent.
