DIY stores in Italy grow by 36 per cent in the first quarter


The DIY stores in Italy have increased their sales in the first quarter of 2021 by 36.2 per cent compared to the same period last year and have made sales of EUR 1.1524 bn. However March 2020 was already affected by the lockdown caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore the plus in the month of March 2021 alone amounts to 146.7 per cent compared to 2020. The figures by the GfK have been published by the Italian online service "10 minutes diy and garden".The strongest growth in the quarter was achieved by the - however very small - product group furniture with a plus of 77 per cent. Garden assortments grew by 73 per cent. The largest product group, sanitary, increased its sales volume by 22 per cent to EUR 18.9 mio.
