A study carried out by Promojardin shows that the gross sales volume of the French garden market in 2003 rose by 0.3 per cent to € 5.649 bn. The greatest sales increase was evident in the category of garden equipment (+12 per cent), and among the poorest performers were house plants (-9 per cent). The DIY superstores and garden centres headed the field when it came to sales channels, each notching up sales growth of 6 per cent year-on-year. The machinery specialists were among the losers, with sales down by 9 per cent.
