Four European timber promotion organisations have joined forces to create the European Wood Initiative, the main task of which is the promotion of sales in China and Japan. An agreement to this effect has been signed by the Nordic Timber Council of Finland, Sweden and Norway, Pro-Holz Austria, the German Timber Promotion Fund and French Timber. Jan Söderlind, managing director of the Nordic Timber Council, has been appointed chairman of the steering committee. An initial budget of € 600 000 has been agreed upon. In addition to focusing on wall and roof systems, the partners in this initiative are also aware that “there is an increasingly strong demand for wood in interiors,” says Inge-Bo Asplund, project manager.
