The new Vario Click display system developed by Siro presents the fittings – handles, knobs and hooks – not mounted directly onto the panel as was previously the case, but provided with special adapters that click into a track. As well as providing a sales-effective presentation of the products at the POS, this system makes it possible to exchange items quickly and easily if they should turn out to be slow movers. “Neither we nor our partners in the DIY retail sector have any interest in presenting products at the POS that have a low stockturn and are hard to sell,” says Gerhard Sikora, managing director of Siro. The new merchandising system is intended to allow the DIY chains to concentrate their range of decorative furniture fittings on fast-turning products on a continuous basis. What is more, it makes it easy to trial newly launched items. DIY superstores all over Europe have already been equipped with the Vario Click system.

New ideas in design
The company is also setting trends in new products with designer ideas for furniture fittings, hook sets and shelves. The latest example is provided by their butterflies, handles and knobs made of plastic and decorated with non-toxic paint. There is also an equally child-friendly series of fittings made of a specially soft plastic material that offers eight different themes.
A new dimension is created in your kitchen by Siro’s Unum space saver, which is available in four different models, all based on the Unum interlocking system. The use of plastic and aluminium makes the kitchen space savers light yet sturdy. The most space-saving model is designed for hanging from a wall cupboard.

Growing internationality
The story of Siro began over 50 years ago in a wooden shed in Ternberg, where metal knobs were made out of old ammunition boxes. Today the company, with a workforce of 165 and sales of approximately 22 mio euro in the 2002/2003 financial year, is one of the world’s major manufacturers of decorative furniture fittings.
Sales in excess of 7 mio euro were achieved by a workforce of 100 as early as the late seventies, when 75 per cent of the company’s production already went for export to more than 40 countries. The global distribution network was further extended over the following years. Evidence of the company’s increased internationality…
