With similarly high levels of agreement of around 70 per cent, four aspects of corporate social responsibility (CSR) play an important role in the eyes of consumers at DIY stores: a broad assortment of environmentally friendly products is at first place with 71 per cent when consumers are asked how important CSR initiatives are for them. This is followed by the respect of labour rights in their own business and supply chains (70 per cent), environmentally friendly packaging (69 per cent) and an active contribution to a better environment (62). These are the results of the European Home Improvement Monitor in the first quarter of 2021, for which USP Marketing Consultancy regularly surveys consumers in eleven countries.
It also dealt with the question as to whether corresponding activities also attract more customers to DIY stores. A majority of 57 per cent of those surveyed stated that this would influence their choice of shopping location. The figure was even 65 per cent among the millennials.
