Spanish manufacturers complain of bottlenecks and penalties

Also Spanish manufacturers in the DIY and garden industry are confronted with contractual penalties because their raw materials are delivered with delays and they are therefore not able to produce and deliver punctually. More than 90 per cent of members in the association of manufacturers AFEB complained about delays in the delivery of raw materials and 60 per cent have been penalised by the trade. Their association has advised them to claim force majeure.
Overall however, the first quarter has gone well for the industry. Almost all companies who took part in a survey by the association reported increases in sales compared to the same period last year (97.8 per cent). Almost 70 per cent increased their exports, around 65 per cent sold more through the Internet. Almost 85 had some delivery difficulties due to increased demand and bottlenecks in supply the year before.
