Only one home improvement company amongst the Top 10 retailers worldwide

Home Depot is the only home improvement retailer in the Top 10 sales ranking of the world's largest retail businesses from the year 2016. At the same time, the world's largest DIY store operator has dropped down one place compared to the previous year - a place which was handed over to Amazon. The online giant even jumped four ranks in 2016 and landed at place six. With sales five times that of Amazon, Wal-Mart is unchallenged in continuing to head the list. The ranking of a total of 250 retail traders comes from the study "Global Powers of Retailing" from the corporate consultants Deloitte.

Lowe's, the second largest home improvement retailer, appears at rank 15, Group Adeo is the third at place 54. A total of 13 companies from the home improvement industry are represented in the Top 250. There is no DIY store operator among the 50 fastest-growing retailers with regard to the period 2011 to 2016. Incidentally, Amazon only got place 30 here.
