Only Home Depot and Lowe’s under the Top 100 in the USA

Home Depot has climbed up one place in the Fortune 500 ranking, in which Fortune Magazine lists the 500 largest companies in the USA, and now stands at position 26. However competitor Lowe's has dropped down two places and is listed at number 44. The two companies also differ greatly in their profitability. While Home Depot shows a profit of USD 11.2 bn with sales of around USD 110 bn, i.e. 10 per cent of sales, Lowe's achieves a profit of USD 4.2 bn with sales of USD 72 bn, just 5.2 per cent of sales.

This means that only two companies from the home improvement industry are under the US American Top 10. Following on later in the Fortune 500 list are Sherwin-Williams at place 180 (down 3 places), and at place 380, Tractor Supply (up 8 places).
