The French franchise group Mr. Bricolage has reported an increase in sales in 2020 of 11.5 per cent to an overall volume of EUR 2.1948 bn. Like-for-like growth was up by 11.7 per cent. The 783 stores in France, 75 more than a year previously, recorded sales totalling EUR 1.8956 bn, thus also a rise of 11.7 per cent (like-for-like: 11.2 per cent). With sales growth of 12.2 per cent (like-for-like: 14.5 per cent), its 71 outlets abroad achieved even higher growth, bringing in EUR 294.5 bn. Outside France, Mr. Bricolage is present in ten other countries, including four in Africa. In the last year, Gabon has been added to this list, with a first store opening on a retail area of 1 019 m² in Port-Gentil.
A drop in online sales of 45.9 per cent to EUR 4.6 mio is linked on the one hand to the group's shop, trading under the name Le Jardin de Catherine, being taken down at the end of 2019. Mr. Bricolage also operates a web-to-store strategy on the Internet with its click & collect offering in particular, directing sales transacted in this way to its stores and thus to bricks-and-mortar retailing. As part of its "Rebond" strategy, the group parted with the last store that it operated itself last year. A new store concept was also introduced that is intended to enhance its profile as a local supplier. This is now being implemented in 25 outlets, which are achieving much improved sales as a result, according to the company. Plans are in hand to modernise around 30 stores this year.
