In Romania, Leroy Merlin has increased its sales in 2019 by more than 20 per to around EUR 500 mio. More than 12 mio customers entered the currently 17 stores. These figures have been reported by Frédéric Lamy, CEO of Leroy Merlin Romania, in an interview with the Romanian industry service bricoretail.ro. He also expects double-digit growth rates for the year 2020.
The company, which belongs to the French Adeo Group, is working on entering e-commerce. It is already testing its click & collect offer in two stores which is expected to be available in all locations by March 2020. First steps in the online trade are planned for February, the restructuring as omni-channel retailer is expected to follow this year. It is said that all employees will be equipped with efficient smartphones for this. The opening of the 18th Leroy Merlin store is lined up for the next few months. The chain is also already working on the development of the 19th location.
