Kingfisher’s online strategy based on physical stores

E-commerce needs physical stores, Kingfisher CEO Thierry Garnier is convinced.

E-commerce needs physical stores, Kingfisher CEO Thierry Garnier is convinced.

Kingfisher is basing its e-commerce strategy on its network of physical stores, CEO Thierry Garnier has told the Financial Times. Central warehouses are unable to support the quick deliveries that consumers demand, according to his comments in the paper. The stores are important for showroom and advice purposes as well.

The strategy is related not least to the boom in click & collect in Europe that the coronavirus pandemic has triggered. If fulfilment is carried out by the stores, this also motivates the staff there to push online sales.
