To mark its 20th birthday, the European manufacturers' association is giving itself a new name. Fediyma (the European Federation of DIY Manufacturers) will be called the Home Improvement Manufacturers Association, or Hima for short, in future. The association has adopted a new strategy too, according to a press release: "We enable our members to face the future" is its mission, which is supported on three pillars: Networking, Knowledge and Lobbying.
To accompany its renaming, the association will open up geographically to welcome members from outside Europe also. In his statement, association president Reinhard Wolff said: "Hima will focus on engaging with members, offering activities and initiatives that are strategic in nature and focused in future challenges across the world. We continue to expand and tailor our member services, offer a wide range of market data, increase the quality of our networking events as we have done with the Global DIY Summit, represent the interests of our industry on an international level, amongst other projects that will increase our visibility in the industry. As a result of these initiatives, we expect a considerable international expansion of our association in the coming years."
Through its affiliated national associations Hima boasts a network of over 1 000 suppliers and manufacturers in the fields of home improvement, DIY, garden, building materials and furniture.
