According to the European Home Improvement Monitor, DIY consumers clearly indicate that there is a preference for A-brands, when conducting a paint job.

Germany is virtually the only country in Europe where private label paints are more popular than A-brands. In other European countries the reverse is true, with 61 per cent of consumers preferring A-brand paints to the private labels of the retailers. This is the result of the European Home Improvement Monitor for the third quarter in the regular update by the USP Marketing Consultancy.

The Poles display the greatest preference for A-brand paints by some distance at 89 per cent, followed by Spain at 65 per cent. At the opposite end of the scale are the Austrians and Germans, with 47 and 45 per cent respectively indicating a preference for A-brand paints.
