DIY International and Covid-19

The Covid-19 pandemic is influencing the latest issue of the DIY International trade magazine.

The Covid-19 pandemic is influencing the latest issue of the DIY International trade magazine.

The Covid-19 pandemic is influencing events in the home improvement and garden industry worldwide - and thus also the latest issue of the DIY International trade magazine. The magazine, which is now out, carries a "Corona special" feature looking at the effects of the pandemic in countries such as the USA, Spain and Great Britain.

Other topics are not neglected, however. With regard to distribution, market development in Germany, Romania and Malaysia is covered, for example. A regional report extending to over ten pages is devoted to the market in Benelux. This includes statistics on store numbers, reports from Belgium and an interview with the head of Intratuin, the garden centre market leader in the Netherlands.

Correction

In the feature "Market recovery in France" errors unfortunately crept into two of the graphs.

Graph "Distribution/sales channels": the share of e-commerce is 9 per cent.
Graph "Market shares of the DIY stores": the correct market shares are
Leroy Merlin: 37%
Weldom: 4%
Bricoman: 3%
Castorama: 14%
Brico Dépôt: 13%
Bricomarché: 9%
Bricocash: 1%
Bricorama + Batkor: 4%
Mr. Bricolage: 6%
Les Briconautes: 2%
Brico Leclerc: 3%
Entrepôt du Bricolage: 2%
Cofaq: 2%

The market shares of the four largest groups are
Adeo: 44%
Kingfisher: 27%
Mousquetaires: 14 %
Groupe Mr. Bricolage: 8 %

We ask our readers to excuse these errors, which are irritating for us too!
