The Swedish DIY discounter Byggmax reports an increase in sales of 26.4 per cent to SEK 1.111 bn (EUR 109.9 mio) for the first quarter of 2021. Exchange rate effects had a negative impact on net sales of 0.6 per cent. The group's currency adjusted like-for-like sales increased by 19.6 per cent. With garden assortments, which the retailer wants to specifically expand, it made 70 per cent more sales than in the same quarter last year.
Online sales under the Byggmax brand increased by 90 per cent. Overall, SEK 998 mio (EUR 98.7 mio) are attributed to the Byggmax sales channel which gained 22.9 per cent with its 175 stores in Sweden, Norway and Finland. The Skånska Byggvaror online shop, which belongs to the group of companies, increased its sales by 69.1 per cent to SEK 115 mio (EUR 11.4 mio). The share of the online business in the overall sales of the group rose to 26 per cent.
