“Relaxing and unwinding” – that is what people expect most from an ideal home. Ikea’s “Life at Home Report 2026” shows that 56 per cent agree with this statement. This is followed, by a wide margin – 38 per cent – by “space for hobbies and activities”. Thirty-one per cent want to “save money” with their ideal home. The other responses: 29 per cent want to “be physically and mentally stronger” at home, and 25 per cent want to “be connected to nature”. “Living sustainably” received the lowest level of support, at 21 per cent.

The – much more comprehensive – report is based on a representative survey conducted by Yougov in 2025. A total of 31,689 participants aged 18 and over were surveyed across 31 countries.
