Joanna Kowalska is to become the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at German DIY store group Hornbach, moving from competitor Obi to Germany's third-largest DIY store operator. She succeeds Karin Dohm, who has left the company prematurely. From mid-August 2025, she will be responsible for finance, taxes, group controlling, risk management, auditing, legal affairs, compliance and investor relations as CFO of the Hornbach Group. Until she takes up her new position, Albrecht Hornbach will continue to serve as interim CFO for Hornbach Management AG and Erich Harsch as interim CFO for Hornbach Baumarkt AG.
Joanna Kowalska (47), who holds a degree in business administration, began her career in 2001 at the auditing and tax consulting firm KPMG DT AG. While working, she earned her doctorate in 2009 at the Poznan University of Economics (Poland).
