Ikea has opened a furniture store in the Canadian city of Toronto. It is the first time it is in the immediate downtown area. Located on the first two floors of a 79-storey skyscraper, the store will offer more than 2 000 products which can be immediately taken away, while larger furniture can be ordered via a delivery option. According to a company statement, the new opening is part of Ikea's omni-channel commitment to get closer to customers "whenever and wherever they want to meet Ikea".

"Globally, around a third of our sales are online – and our physical stores play an important role in this omnichannel reality. As customer behaviours evolve, so do we as a retailer. We are redeveloping many of our larger stores to also ship customer orders in a quicker, more affordable and more sustainable way," says Tolga Öncü, Retail Operations Manager, Ingka Group.
