The members of the European Producers of Laminate Flooring (EPLF) association report positive business development for the second year in a row in 2021. In 2021, EPLF members' sales growth continued with an increase of 5.3 per cent compared with 2020 and a total of 483.4 million m² of flooring sold. In 2020, members had already benefited from consumer enthusiasm for DIY and interior design, increasing their business by 2.7 per cent compared with 2019. This was reported by Ruben Desmet, deputy chief executive of the EPLF, in an online press conference. However, there were also difficulties in sourcing raw materials and disruptions in supply chains, he noted.

Looking at global markets, Latin America saw the largest growth in 2021, with 61.5 per cent compared with 2020 and 22.8 million m² of flooring sold. Sales in Western Europe reached 231.5 million m² in 2021, an increase of 2.59 per cent compared with 2020.
