British B&M group sells German Jawoll stores

16.03.2020

The British trading group B&M has sold its 80 per cent share of the German Jawoll special item stores. 96 locations in the north-west of Germany belong to this chain. Purchasers come mainly from within the company itself and had already held the remaining shares. The official contract partner is a consortium under the leadership of AC Curtis Salta GmbH which belongs to Adiuva Capital.
B&M had already announced in November that they wanted to bid farewell to their loss-making German commitments. The losses for financial year 2018/2019 are reported as being GBP 15.4 mio (EUR 17.4 mio). Sales by Jawoll declined in the third quarter of financial year 2019/2020 by 1.5 per cent to GBP 53.0 mio (EUR 60.0 mio), rose however in the first three quarters overall by 0.8 per cent to GBP 167.8 mio (EUR 190.0 mio).
