The German DIY chain Hornbach is marking its tenth anniversary in Romania, where it runs six stores. An online shop is expected to be added to its operation there in the first half of 2018.
Hornbach has invested roughly € 145 mio in Romania in the last ten years and opened six stores. Each has a retail area of around 23 000 m²; the only exception is the store in Sibiu with an area of roughly 12 000 m². The stores stock around 60 000 products, while a further 60 000 items can be ordered. More than 750 people are employed in the stores and the Hornbach head office in Romania.
"We are currently very pleased with the development of the Romanian market," said Albrecht Hornbach, board chairman of Hornbach Management AG. "The six stores of building materials and gardening in this country contribute significantly to the development of our concern due to a strong increase in turnover."
