The customers were mostly satisfied with the criteria cleanliness and speed at the check-out. The industry’s worst criteria was for the availability of green and environmentally-friendly products. Other criteria surveyed were also value for money, product range, range of brands and product display.
A further result from the survey is that, in comparison to other retail trade sectors, smartphone apps are less widely used by DIY store customers. Lowe’s has the highest share of DIY store customers who use the store’s app, with eight per cent. However, when it comes to using customer cards, Ace has 68 per cent, well ahead of Lowe’s (24 per cent), Menards (10 per cent), Home Depot (7 per cent) and Walmart (3 per cent).
